Festival of Filipino cultural games for children gives an excitement to all how it would be taught to the kids in all Early Childhood Care Centers. The idea came up when we saw the theme for the National Children’s Month celebration “Isulong: Kalidad na Edukasyon Para sa Lahat ng Bata”.

This celebration is really for them to enjoy. Games of long ago like hopscotch, kadang-kadang, tumbang preso and other Filipino cultural games inspires them to improve their social skills. We encourage all the teachers to teach and try these games in their Physical Education subject weekly. All the kids and even parents enjoyed and had fun. It is now our desire to bring back games of yesteryears because these games teaches children to interact and discover meaningful friendship with playmates.

“Palarong Pinoy 2016” was the event for the celebration of National Children’s Month. The entrance of the colours brought more excitement to the audience and to those who celebrated with us. Kids from every school in their different colours of uniform gave extra thrill to their parents as they cheered and welcomed all the kids. Ms. Aira Binas of High 5 Philippines read a story for them. They also met and greet Grimace of Mc Donalds as they were served lunch. The goal to inform the children on how to protect and know their right was done through a Puppet Show. They were also given a chance to express themselves through the arts and crafts corner. Playing the different games was the main course of the event. It was really fun and enjoyable. The best day ever to celebrate!

The celebration of National Children’s Month was realized thru the sponsorship of ON Semiconductor which was facilitated thru Ms. Cynthia Sloane, a US Peace Corps Volunteer of Open Heart Foundation. It was last November 10, 2016 when we had the opportunity to meet and have a photo ops with the big bosses of the company as they turned over the cheque to the Executive Director, Rosalinda T. Perez and the Staff of the Foundation.

The presence of the people who got involved in the celebration; the representatives of the ON Semiconductor headed by Mr. Paolo Seminiano, the Executive Director and the Staff of Open Heart Foundation, the Children, the Parents of children from different areas and, of course, the amazing Teachers from the Early Childhood Care and Development Program, summed up the success of the event.

Truly we were amazed with the smiles we see from these kids as they received their loot bags for the Children’s Month Celebration. With the success of this event, we wish to bring back all the glory to God whom we praise.
