On June 17, 2017, the Open Heart Foundation joins the yearly celebration of International Labour Organization (ILO) in World Day against Child Labor (WDACL) to give attention to the child labour and to call action and efforts to eliminate it. The local theme is “Sa Armadong Tunggalian, Sakuna o Bagyo, Iligtas Ang Bata Sa Trabahong Mapang-Abuso”.
Part of the program are tour around Rizal Park and Art Painting Workshop. The Art Painting Workshop is in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment – Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (DOLE-BWSC) and Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC). The workshop gives opportunity to the participants to learn new skills about painting. After the workshop, the organizers conduct a mini art painting competition and the beneficiary of Open Heart Foundation, Jayson Tapong, won and got the Best Painter award.
Jayson’s painting represents the children who are blinded by the poverty and have no choice but to work and which should be given hope and enabling environment for them to experience the conditions they should enjoy. His painting calls for the attention and promotion of children’s rights especially those who are caught up in child labor.
